Observation aircrafts circa 1914

In its early days, the airplane , Armies’ taffs were interested in aircraft for bits reconnaissance overflight capabilities.

On 4 October 1914, two Farman aircraft spotted the right flank of the enemy army in the open. Thanks to the sagacity of Alfred Dreyfus, the information reached Galliéni directly who on the same day ordered the 6th army to march; it was the battle of the Marne; the Schlieffen plan was thwarted, and on the 9th, von Bülow retreated.

French and German toy manufacturers produced toys based on these frail nacelles.
